Hugo and Amanda have visited assisted living communities, Ronald McDonald House, TWLOHA and attended both hospice conferences and dog-friendly festivals. Hugo has never met a stranger and loves sharing his gentle spirit with everyone he encounters. The team especially enjoys visiting patients and their families because Hugo brings them comfort, joy and a sense of calm when it matters most.
Amanda admits that their visits to assisted living facilities stand out. She loves hearing the residents’ stories about their own pets. Seeing them light up as they pet and talk to
Hugo shows just how powerful these connections can be. When Hugo’s “off duty,” he enjoys long walks, playing fetch, anything that involves water, and spending time with his dog friends. He and Amanda not only participate in weekly pack walks at a local park, they continue his training to keep him happy, healthy, and ready for every visit. Hugo has several quirks that Amanda finds absolutely endearing. He loves “talking” when he’s excited, letting out happy little grumbles that sound like he’s joining the conversation. He also has a habit of carrying his favorite toy (or shoes) to greet people at the door, as if offering them a gift. But what truly melts Amanda’s heart is how Hugo gently leans against people for comfort: it’s his way of saying, “I’m here for you.”
