Adoption Process Overview

Our adoption process is intentionally thorough to ensure each dog finds the best possible forever home.
Every dog in our care has been surrendered for different reasons, and we work hard to make sure they are healthy, happy, and ready for their next chapter.

How We Prepare Dogs

We take great care to ensure each dog is truly ready for their forever home. Here’s how we do it:

Veterinary Checkups

Every dog receives a complete health examination so we can identify and address any medical needs.

Foster Care

Dogs live in loving foster homes where volunteers observe their behavior, routines, and preferences. This helps us understand each dog’s needs and match them with the right family.

Medical Treatments

Any necessary medical treatments are completed while the dog is in foster care, helping them be healthy and comfortable before adoption.

Behavior Training

Based on foster feedback, we partner with force-free trainers to build foundational skills or support areas of improvement while the dog is with us.

Adoption Timeframes

Adoption timeframes vary based on several factors:

• Qualities you’re looking for in a dog
• Needs of your family
• Number of dogs currently available
• Characteristics of the dogs in our program

What Do the Statuses Mean?

• Not Ready for Adoption: Receiving medical care, recovery support, and/or evaluation.
• Ready for Adoption: Fully cleared and ready for placement.
• Matched for Adoption: Paired with an applicant whose home and lifestyle best meet the needs of the dog.
