Blondie has blossomed in the 5 weeks she has been with GRRMF. Watch her play with a ball here. Her coat is shiny; she’s put on a few pounds and most of all she is an energetic and very happy girl whose tail is always wagging. She’s not sure if she enjoys play time or snuggle time the best. She thinks it’s cute to grab a towel or pillow from her foster and run around the house with it while she gives you a look that says, “come play.” She doesn’t chew it – just wants your attention. She enjoys chasing her balls, but the one voice command she seems to ignore is “give.” She’d rather have you chase her for it. Otherwise, she is either following you around the house or snuggled up next to her human.
Her vocabulary is quite extensive – sit, (even though she thinks froggie legs works for sit), down, stay, wait (she will wait at the door until you tell her it’s ok to go out and the same with her meals) leave it, come, and touch. She is a lot of fun to work with as she is so responsive.
She is learning to walk on a loose leash and to overcome her fears. She loves to sniff and would spend all day sniffing her way around the neighborhood if given the chance. She is getting much better at not reacting to every human or dog she meets. A special treat goes a long way to keep her attention on her person. When she encounters one of her special friends, she gets very excited, but she is learning paws on the ground gets her a lot more attention. Then she is ecstatic when she gets belly rubs. She is a little selective about her friends.
After watching tv curled up on her human’s lap or next to them, she finds a small corner of the bed where she curls up for the night. No early riser here – she’ll wait for you to wake up. Then she gently wiggles her way to you to give you morning kisses.
You couldn’t ask for a better companion.
Blondie would be best in a home with a family will to continue her training and no other pets or children… and of course a lanai!

Just like the famous cartoon Blondie, our Blondie is smart, sweet and beautiful.
Her foster mom says, “She has a pure look of ecstasy when we rub her ears.” And who wouldn’t want to give this snuggle bug all the love and attention she deserves? “She does so many adorable things,” her foster mom continues, “like this frog leg slide off the couch, or the way she races around the house tossing her toy in the air and catching it.” Watch her play with her toy here.
But Blondie is not all action. She enjoys lounging on the lanai, curled up with one of her foster parents watching the golfers pass behind her home.
Blondie enjoys a good car or golf cart ride and is a good leash walker, sniffing everything. She knows a few commands, is crate trained even though she doesn’t really need it, and is an alert guard dog. Blondie will let you know when she hears an unfamiliar noise.
Although Blondie is incredibly confident, happy, and loving, she would be best in a home where she is the queen.
Blondie’s adoption cost is $650 which helps defray the average $2,000 expense per dog in our rescue. Click here to learn about our adoption process.
