The well-seasoned team of Starla and Sandy has been visiting hospice care centers, retirement homes and Alzheimer’s and assisted living facilities.
Sandy enjoys seeing the faces of everyone they meet and how excited they get in the presence of Starla. She makes their day so much better and brighter. They ask questions about her breed, smile, pet her and love on her.
Known for bringing along baseball cards and a photo of Starla on their visits is an added touch that’s always appreciated. Sandy’s favorite memory is one of an elderly gentleman they had seen several times. She didn’t know if he would remember, but when she and Starla entered his room, he got so excited, and kept saying, “I remember her. I was hoping to see her again in person.” He then pulled out the card and photo of Starla! The next week he passed away. Sandy was pleased that they had made him happy and that he had seen Starla one last time.
With an eye on the future, Sandy hopes to visit new places with Starla, as they become available.
