Kody knows how to keep people happy!
Kody and Joyce pay regular visits to assisted living facilities, independent living and memory care facilities. Kody enjoys all of them equally — provided someone is petting her!
The team’s favorite visit so far was to Buena Vida. Kody LOVES going into the rooms and sitting at the people’s feet. She looks at them so lovingly and they look lovingly back at her.
When not doing therapy visits, Kody loves to “dinosaur fight” with her golden retriever sister, Kai. They play chase in the backyard and enjoy cuddling in the same dog bed. Kody also loves sitting on her parents’ laps. She thinks she weighs 5 pounds, not 55!
Especially endearing to her parents is when she wakes up from a nap and instantly rests her head on their laps. They call her “Wiggle Butt” because her tail never stops wagging!
Whenever their 6-year-old twin granddaughters visit, Kody and Kai get very excited. Once they relax, the girls lie down next to them, put their heads on the dogs’ and use them as pillows. Needless to say, both dogs love it.
Joyce recalls sadly that when Kacie, their 8-year-old golden, passed away from cancer last year, Kody became very depressed, having lost her cherished playmate. Enter Kai, the golden puppy, whom Kody basically ignored. Now that Kai already weighs 55 pounds, she and Kody are the best of friends and virtually inseparable.
Now team Kody and Joyce eagerly look forward to more visits — and pets!
