We have lost a friend

We have lost a friend

December 14, 2019

We are so sad to learn of the recent passing of a dear friend, volunteer, adopter and passionate animal freedom fighter … Sue Anderson. Our hearts and prayers for comfort go out to her husband Bob and all her family and friends who were honored by sharing their life with this special force of nature.

Sue was a very active volunteer in GRRMF in the Tampa Bay area for many years before moving to southwest Florida. She was an integral part of the Golden Retriever rescue of the “Sarasota 23” in 2002, volunteered for home visits, fostered, adopted, transported and fought for animals everywhere. She did pet therapy with her dogs and ran agility. She hosted many pool parties for the dogs in honor of the Sarasota 23 and followed them all throughout their lives. Here is a link about the Sarasota 23 and the wild pup pool parties at Sue and Bob’s house.   http://landofpuregold.com/rescue-sarasota23.htm

Even after moving, Sue continued to support GRRMF and spread her wings to include supporting the local golden rescue in southwest Florida. Sadly, she was diagnosed with cancer and lost the battle in a very short period of time. Our people who were privileged to know and volunteer with Sue are smiling through their tears remembering her nickname “Storm Surge Susie”… always at the ready during hurricane season with watchful warnings and suggestions for safety.  Sue, you will be missed by many and the bridge is rocking with your reunion with the Sarasota 23 and so many more who you saved. Rest In Peace our rescue warrior friend.

Your candle is lit. Rest in peace our rescue warrior friend.
