Volunteer Area:

I am a member of the Media Team.

Number of  Years as a Volunteer:

I have been volunteering for 9 years.

How Did You Hear About Us and When?:

In  2015, I started working for a company who gave us 7 business days a year to donate to the charity of our choice. Since I have always loved goldens, I turned to google who sent me to GRRMF. I wrote a letter describing my skills and desire to help. A few weeks later we had a call and I joined shortly after that.

What made you choose to become a volunteer with GRRMF?

For me, it was the warm, welcoming environment that peaked my interest. Beyond the incredible dogs, it was the kindness and appreciation of the people that made me feel at home right away.

Most Cherished Moment as a Volunteer?:

One of my most cherished moments was attending the GRRMF reunion in years past. Seeing the happy faces of both the dogs and their families, knowing my efforts have contributed to their joy, was incredibly rewarding. As a remote volunteer, it truly solidified the impact I’ve been able to make and filled me with happiness.

What Has Surprised You About Volunteering?:

What surprised me most about volunteering is how easy it is to make a difference. Everyone has a skill, and all skills are valuable and necessary. Whether it’s organizing, fostering, or simply lending a hand, there’s always a way to contribute. My advice is not to wait—don’t hold back because you think you have nothing to offer. Every effort counts, and you’ll be amazed at the impact you can make.

Advice For Potential Volunteers:

Just dive in! You don’t need to have a specific skill or experience—what matters most is your willingness to help. Every contribution, no matter how small it may seem, makes a difference. Plus, you’ll find an incredibly supportive team ready to help you learn and grow. So, don’t hesitate to get involved. You’ll be surprised at how rewarding and fulfilling the experience can be!

What touches your heart most often about GRRMF?:

What touches my heart most often is seeing the incredible transformation in the dogs we rescue. Watching them go from uncertain, sometimes scared, to happy and loved in their forever homes is truly heartwarming. It’s also the dedication of the volunteers and the kindness of the adopters that constantly remind me how much love and compassion is at the core of everything we do. Being part of a community that genuinely cares about giving these dogs a second chance is something I cherish.
