Several virtual and in-person pet loss support options are available for residents in Central Florida and beyond, many of which are free of charge.
Virtual and In-Person Pet Loss Support Options
To locate in-person locations near you, search on Google for “in-person pet loss support locations near me”.
Virtual Pet Loss Support Groups
Virtual support groups are an excellent option as they are accessible from anywhere, including the Mid-Florida region.
- Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice: Offers complimentary virtual pet loss support groups several times a week via Zoom. These are educational and coach-led, providing a safe and empathetic environment. You can find registration information on the Lap of Love website.
- The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB): Provides extensive online resources, including chat rooms and virtual support meetings staffed by trained volunteers. More details can be found on the APLB website.
- PetCloud: Hosts free weekly virtual support groups that are open to anyone. Registration details are available on the PetCloud.pet website.
- My Grief Angels: Offers various free virtual grief support groups, including an “Open All Inclusive Virtual Peer-led Grief Support Group” on Sundays that is open to those grieving a pet.
- University of Florida: Partners with the Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation to provide pet loss grief counseling by phone, offering an alternative to group sessions. You can reach them at (352) 392-1575.
In-Person & Local Mid-Florida Resources
- Emerald Counseling Services: Offers one-on-one and group therapy, with in-office and telehealth appointments available. Call (914) 318-6928 for more information.
- Animal Kingdom Pet Services: While focused on cremation services, they provide emotional support and connect families to local grief support groups. Contact them at (407) 295-1234.
- Veterinary Medical Clinic: Hosts a free pet loss support group on the first Thursday of every month from 7:30 PM to 9 PM. Call for more details or check their website.
