To know Tinkerbell, previously Tinker Mindi, is to love Tinkerbell!
Her family was a combination of happy, grateful and hopeful the day they brought this golden girl home. Having had goldens for 39 years, each with his or her own unique personality, they loved them to pieces, in the words of Tinkerbell’s new mom.
As for their newest golden? She is so loving and so sensitive. She has her own bedtime (10 PM) and she lets her mom know that she wants to go to bed! But if her dad takes a nap in the afternoon, tenderhearted Tinkerbell waits a few minutes, then goes in to nap with him.
Tinkerbell LOVES taking long rides in the family’s golf cart. She also LOVES toys. She has countless “stuffies” and always has one in her mouth. In fact, she falls asleep on the couch with a stuffed toy in her little mouth, and her mom worries that it must make her thirsty. But it’s her “pacifier,” she concludes, and it clearly makes Tinkerbell happy.
While the family hasn’t yet gone on any overnight trips, they’re planning to take Tinkerbell to the beach because they think that prior to their adopting her, she may have been a “beach girl.” She absolutely adores sand!
What they found strange, though, was that she didn’t want to chase a tennis ball. They would throw the ball and she’d start after it, then turn around and come back. One day, on a golf cart ride, they stopped in a sandy area and decided to throw the ball for her and WHOA! She suddenly came alive! She will chase the ball in the sand — she loves it — but in the grass, nope! They then took her to the dog park when there were no dogs around and threw the ball.
When Tinkerbell ran in the grass, she stopped and came back, walking as if she was stuck in glue. Obviously trained by her original owners to “sit up” and “beg,” for example, she’s also very good about staying right by her parents’ side during their walks. But they haven’t done any further training with her because she’s mostly a big lovable couch potato and she’s smart enough for them!
