Rio Felix’s Success Story

Rio Felix’s Success Story

When Savannah and Kyle picked Leo up from his amazing foster mom, they quickly learned how loving he was. On the drive home, they stopped in Lakeland for lunch and discovered one of Leo’s funniest quirks: he likes to climb up onto chairs and sit at the table like a human! One month later, Leo was the ring bearer at Savannah and Kyle’s wedding in New Smyrna Beach.

His three main loves are going for walks around the neighborhood, spending time with his parents and playing with his precious plushy toys. While his favorite toy is his giant Lamb Chop stuffy, he loves all of his soft toys and enjoys getting them out of his basket each morning — usually after his mom has picked them up and put them all away! He also loves playing brief games of fetch, running zoomies around the backyard and rolling around in the grass. If the grass is wet, even better! He’ll flop over and wiggle around like a worm. Famous for grabbing his Lamb Chop stuffy after each meal and enthusiastically whipping it around, it’s Leo’s post-meal ritual, and his parents never tire of watching him be a goof ball.

Especially endearing to his parents is how friendly Leo is. He absolutely adores people, particularly kids, always perking up when he sees them during their neighborhood walks and he’s convinced that everyone he meets is a potential new best friend. He’s also learning to co-exist with his new cat siblings, Baby and Bubba. While he’s making progress, he still seems offended when they have the audacity to rub up against him! Whenever one of the cats comes over to say hello, Leo gives his parents the funniest side-eye, as if questioning why such behavior is being permitted.

He’s already enjoyed taking several beach trips with his parents, and he relishes running around in the sand and getting the zoomies. The only catch is that he’s not quite as enthusiastic about the water. He’s content to simply play in the sand without getting his paws too wet.

Although he already knew many of the basics, taking these classes together has been another fun way for the family to bond and continufelix. After losing our previous dog, we weren’t sure when we would be ready to open our hearts to another, but Leo has brought so much love, laughter and happiness into our home. He’s especially bonded with Kyle, and watching the two of them together has been one of the sweetest parts of this journey. We’re so grateful to his foster mom and everyone who helped bring us together. Adopting Leo has been such a gift, and we can’t imagine our lives without him!”
