Radiant Rambo wins raves from his loving adopters and everyone he meets!
Not only was his family excited when they brought him home, they couldn’t believe how lucky and blessed they were to have been matched with him. They were also eager to give him the best possible life, considering that Rambo came from an Amish puppy mill. Initially nervous about how their other dog, a female named Poe, would react, they needn’t have worried: the dogs got along harmoniously from the start.
Their family feels complete with Rambo. Their two sons are five and seven, and while Poe is very sweet, she’s 15 years old and not the cuddliest anymore. Rambo, on the other hand, LOVES being cuddled and petted, and the boys absolutely adore him. They’re so proud of him and love walking with him to the bus stop in the mornings and showing him off to all of their friends.
Blessed with large, beautiful brown eyes that melts people’s hearts, Rambo, who’s as sweet as he is loyal, faithfully follows his mom wherever she goes, and when he’s walked through the neighborhood, everyone wants to stop and pet him, and he just soaks it in. Particularly drawn to stuffies, this handsome 100-pound golden GENTLY carries them around in his mouth, nibbling and gnawing on them and tossing them up in the air before playing with them. And seeing him so HAPPY brings such untold joy to his doting parents.
Eating and sleeping are high on his list of favorite activities. Rambo “inhales” his food, including cucumbers, carrots and strawberries, and loves plopping down on any soft surface and taking a nap. Accompanying his family everywhere, he especially loves their trips to the mountains, hiking in the woods and sleeping in front of the fireplace.
The first time Rambo barked was a few weeks after being adopted. There was a storm, the wind was picking up, and the giant rubber duck float in the pool was moving back and forth across the choppy water. His mom heard a loud, deep bark from the living room and when she checked on Rambo, she saw him watching the duck float with his ears perked up. In her own words, “It was really so cool to finally hear him bark and use his voice!”
Simply put, his family adores him. His mom grew up with golden retrievers, and her own mom was very active in a golden rescue club in Charlotte. She herself always knew she wanted one as an adult, but she only wanted a rescue. When she and her husband filled out the paperwork with GRRMF, they stipulated that they were open to seniors, golden mixes — really any dog. That’s why they were so surprised and thrilled to be matched with such a big, beautiful golden boy, and they’re so thankful Rambo came into their lives.
