Ellie’s (f.k.a. Phoebe) parents’ happiest memory of adoption day was seeing her for the first time and realizing what a gift she was to their family.
Ever the social butterfly, sweet and people-friendly Ellie loves going to the dog park, and especially enjoys playing with her friends Aspen, Periwinkle and Riley. Her bestie, though, is Nala, a 4-year-old golden whom they met on a walk around the neighborhood. In fact, Ellie knows the way to her house, and no sooner do her parents say “Nala” than Ellie tilts her head and runs to the front door! She also loves playing chase both inside and outside and has cycled through numerous toys, but her current favorites are a nerf ball and a watermelon slice called Mel.
Ellie makes her parents smile all of the time. The moment they wake up, she jumps into their bed to give them kisses and cuddles. Woof about a wonderful way to start the day! When they return home from the store, she greets them as if they’ve been gone for a week with copious wiggles and kisses before eagerly sniffing the bags to see what’s in there for her. Whenever Ellie wants to attract their attention and engage in games of tug or chase, her preferred strategy is grabbing a toy and nudging either her mom or her dad’s hand.
An excellent passenger in the car, Ellie recently spent several weeks in St. Augustine with her dad’s parents. They have a fenced yard overlooking a lake/golf course, and she loved sitting outside to watch the ducks, geese and golfers. Nearby was an exceptional dog park with a pond. At first she was skeptical about the water, but after seeing other dogs go in, Ellie’s “dog paddle” instinct kicked in and she joined them most joyfully. To her parents, it was like watching their children swim for the first time!
Proving that she’s as bright as she is beautiful, Ellie successfully completed PetSmart puppy training.
