Pete perked up his adoptive family’s lives on day one!
When they brought Pete home, everyone was very excited, except, perhaps, for Suzy the cat. Pete’s new mom and dad had both grown up with dogs (his dad had a yellow lab named Sammy and his mom had a golden named Winston) who were integral members of their families. It, therefore, meant a lot to them to have a similar canine member for their own family.
For her part, Suzy was initially skittish around Pete, although he was wonderfully well behaved, and refused to come downstairs. She has since gotten much more comfortable around him, and now the two of them share the couch.
Pete loves to be as close to his parents as possible and will always snuggle up to them, whether on the couch or in bed. When his dad, a physician, works an occasional night shift, he sleeps with his mom in bed and is very protective of her if he hears any noises outside. He loves treats, has learned several tricks that his mom taught him such as “paw,” “lie down” and “roll over,” and also loves watching football on TV with or without his parents on Sundays.
Enamored of all outdoor activities, Pete especially enjoys going on car rides and going to the dog beach. Known to chew on just about anything, he likes the plastic bone his parents bought him at the pet store, likes chasing all kinds of balls, and, for some reason, he really loves the color orange. Pete has already been to New Orleans twice, once for Mardi Gras, and got along very well with his mom’s grandparents.
As for Pete’s sillier side: Sometimes at night he’ll trick his dad into thinking he needs to go outside and potty. Then, as soon as his dad gets up to let him out, he’ll jump up into his dad’s spot in the bed!
