Maverick Shai’s Success Story

Maverick melted his family’s hearts the moment he knew he was happily home!

His family had rescued three other goldens from GRRMF, and unfortunately, two had passed away within two years. His mom admits that they were without a dog for only 11 days before their house felt empty! Their son LOVES Maverick so much, always wants to play with him, and always asks that pictures be taken of the them together.

Maverick makes himself comfortable on the couch next to his dad whenever he watches TV. He also loves sleeping with his mom and dad in their king-sized bed, and since he weighs 90 pounds, he naturally takes up most of the room. Not to mention his passion for sleeping on his mom’s pillow.

Why is Maverick so absolutely adored? He’s supremely soft, and his family loves to pet him and brush him. He makes them laugh when he rolls over onto his back with his legs splayed open. He barks at the doorbell in TV commercials. He listens intently, a welcome change from their previous foster who was a counter surfer and thief. He’s extremely affectionate. They love walking him and playing with him in the yard, which makes all of them happy.

He keeps his dad, who’s on disability, company every day since he’s home alone. They are best buds and he makes his dad feel connected.

Maverick is most content when he’s lying down and relaxing in the sun, either on the pool deck or on one of the lounge chairs. Then, when he’s feeling especially energetic, he LOVES going on long walks with his mom.

Always up for adventure and always wonderfully well behaved, Maverick travelled with his family to the Golden Retriever Reunion and then to Delray Beach when they visited his mom’s sister and brother-in-law.
