From 2010
Chance (formerly Waldo) collected people’s hearts, wearing them around his neck like golden love charms. And yet, when Heidi and her husband adopted the endearing 1 1/2-year-old in June 2010, they discovered that he had a surprisingly strong personality and an independent streak atypical of most Goldens.
“He enjoyed spending much of his time lying by the front door pretending to be a guard dog and barking at anyone who walked past outside,” she recalls. “People who met him were often surprised that such a fierce bark came from such a sweet pup. “Truly the best dog ever, he was ‘Mr. July’ in the 2012 GRRMF calendar – and he had the body to prove it! He LOVED swimming and going for walks and especially enjoyed exploring the neighborhood.
“One of our favorite memories revolved around a monthly ritual at our house. The moment he heard the Heartworm Preventative medicine package open, he would hide in the bathroom – dear, sweet, silly dog.
“Our family adored Chance and we were all devastated when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in October 2020.”
