Judith’s happiest memory of the day she and Ron adopted Lady was when she accepted a treat from her hand, played ball, and then took a walk. It was watching her start to trust.
Lady’s passion is playing: from playing games to playing with people and other dogs. She loves all of her toys and is always grateful when someone brings her a new one. She recently received a stuffed chicken, her current favorite, while her longterm “loves” are LambChop, Holy Roller ball, soccer ball, Kongs, Benebones and tennis balls.
What makes her parents laugh is Lady’s penchant for spinning! She spins when she gets up in the morning because she’s so joyful. She spins when she’s going to be fed. She spins when she sees one of her dog or people friends. When Judith first started grooming her, she was a bit fearful, but now she wants to be brushed, offers her paws and rolls over, exposing her tummy.
Three months after Lady’s adoption, her parents spent a week at the beach with their daughter, son-in-law and two young grandsons. Lady took the road trip in her stride and quickly adjusted to the larger, louder family and a three-storey beach house. While she wasn’t fond of the surf at the beach, she enjoyed digging in the sand and loved playing “lifeguard” at the pool, keeping a watchful eye on the two boys.
What her parents find especially endearing about Lady is her golden heart, so that during their daily walks, she’ll stop and greet each person and dog like her very best friend. She’s also quite determined to teach people who aren’t “dog people” to love her – given her small size, beauty, joy and loving. A few months after Lady’s adoption, her mom underwent surgery. When she came home from the hospital, Lady climbed up on the chair, very gently sniffed and licked her, then settled down ever so tenderly, and sat with her.
Like most ladies, Lady loves shopping, and her favorite place is Lowes, where she makes SO many friends. One day, in the garden shop, they met a family with small children who instantly loved her. As they rode on the flatbed cart pulled by their dad, Lady quickly jumped up with the children. The dad laughed and said to his wife, “Quick, let’s get through the check-out so that we can take her home!” Another time, when they were getting paint, Lady stood up and won over the staff assisting them, together with a LONG line of people eager to meet her!
“Thank you so much for matching us with this precious girl,” exclaims Judith. “She’s a pint-sized version of our precious Tucker you matched us with many years ago. She fills my heart with joy!”
