Josh Allen’s Success Story

Josh Allen’s Success Story

Not only were they excited to adopt him, he’s their best friend and they do everything together. As a routine-oriented dog, he’s made them very much morning people and a “go to bed early” type of family, according to his adoring mom. Among his most endearing traits: he LOVES to give kisses, he’s his family’s shadow, and he loves to sleep under his mom’s desk when she’s working.

They feel that Josh was a blessing to them! There’s so much they love about him and he’s just the best dog they could have asked for — even when he’s stubborn. They don’t think of him as just a pet, he’s an integral part of their family!

Josh’s favorite activity is swimming, while his favorite toy is an octopus that he takes outside with him every day to run with and flip around in the air! He also enjoys staring out the front window and watching everyone walk by. A fairly silent dog, he doesn’t bark or make too many noises. The only time he barks is when someone’s swimming and he’s not in the water with them.

Luckily, Josh loves car rides, riding comfortably in the car, because the family has made three trips to Illinois for holidays. And although he’s calmer than he once was, he’s still very much his goofy self with others — waiting to merrily “mouth” visitors before settling down within 15 minutes of their arrival.

As for the silliest thing he’s done to date? Recently his mom made some chicken apple sausages, and left one on the stove to snack on later. When his dad came home, his mom ran out to get the mail, and as soon as she left, Josh stole the sausage. She returned to find him by the door waiting to go into the yard with the sausage sticking out of his mouth. She looked at him and said, “What are you doing?” Josh looked up at her with the sausage in his mouth as if to say, “I don’t have anything.” He then removed it from his mouth while giving her the “side eye.” His parents laughed because he hadn’t counter surfed since they adopted him.

Shortly after his adoption, Josh and his mom attended a training class which strengthened their bond and attempted to reduce his innate desire to always be in charge. Although it helped, Josh still likes being the leader on walks, and they’re still patiently at work on his leash manners.

But then, practice does and always will make paw-fect!
