Atlas’s adoring mom eagerly admits that her happiest memory of adoption day was the first time her young son and Atlas met. One might have four feet and one might have two, but doggy and boy are well and truly brothers now!
Atlas absolutely loves participating in “love-ins”! He loves lying beside his brother in bed while he reads a book, loves putting him to bed at night and loves waking him up for school in the morning.
Invariably making his mom laugh is the way Atlas thinks of his large coppery-golden self as a small lap dog. Not to mention what a good sport he is about, e.g., donning a pair of pale blue velvet bunny ears for Easter,
Although the family hasn’t yet gone on an official vacation, they took Atlas to the beach for the first time over Easter weekend. He’s a natural when it comes to sand, luxuriating in its texture and its warmth. The family also took him to the dog beach and to his mom’s aunt’s pool, where he showed how much he loves to swim. And where toys are concerned, Atlas particularly loves his golden retriever stuffy from Ikea.
What Atlas’s mom finds endlessly endearing about him … He sometimes jumps sideways when a leaf blows by! When he wants attention, he uses his nose like a bottlenose dolphin! He belches (yes, belches) and makes her son laugh!
The family, says his mom, has been working with Atlas on getting along with other dogs they encounter along the trail. And, not surprisingly, he’s doing much better.
