Sonny was diagnosed with heart worms!  He will have to undergo a number of treatments to heal him from this terrible disease.

Sonny has three major injections he needs to fight the heartworms, he has had one with the other 2 coming in December and January.  He then will be re-tested and hopefully be cleared of this fatal (if left untreated) disease.  The injections are not cheap, but any amount you can donate will help cover Sonny’s vet costs!

Sonny is a spectacular golden retriever/great Pyrenees mix. At 3 years old, he’s still a puppy … and active, energetic and tons of fun! Sonny is curious, smart, super sweet and loving. He sniffs everything new to him, explores his surroundings and wants lots of affection including his favorite thing – belly rubs!

Like any puppy, Sonny runs on high until he conks out, then he’ll lie on the couch snoozing happily. His foster mom has a great time watching him play, “When he gets the zoomies, he’ll run back and forth, and crouch down on the floor and lift his front legs up and down like he’s patting the floor.”

Sonny doesn’t know any commands, but he is house broken and doesn’t need to be crated. His foster mom says he’s very well behaved. He is skittish of loud sounds and will run and hide when he’s scared. He was also standoffish with his foster mom’s father and so far has only been comfortable with his foster mom. In fact, she says Sonny is with her all the time, sometimes thinking he’s a lap dog.

Sonny may have some food issues, and it might be best if there are no other dogs or cats in his forever home.

Sonny is a super sweet, loving pup who just needs a family who can give him the affection and attention he deserves. In return, you will find a best friend who will shower you with slobbery kisses, be excited when he sees you, and give you unconditional love!
