Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks??? (Not that Dinho is old at all.) Thanks to the work of his foster mom and one of our partner force-free trainers, Dinho is becoming quite social. He walks very well on a leash, enjoys going outside, and finds car rides fun! He still enjoys snuggling up on the couch for plenty of well earned behind the ear scratches and cuddles. Give him a new toy to chew on and he just lights up with enthusiasm.

Dinho is a true love bug and ready to meet his new family. He’s looking for a quiet home with another calm dog who will act as a mentor. His new parents will need to continue his training. He’s learned a lot already because he’s such a people pleaser. What Dinho wishes for now is a family with time to provide him with consistency, patience and lots of snuggles.
Hi, I’m Dinho! I am a very loving and affectionate boy who loves being with my humans and cuddling with them. My name is Portuguese and means “little or dear one,” and my foster mom says I am very aptly named!
I’m liking it here in my foster home and I’ve gotten along great with other dogs and cat. She says that I don’t have a mean bone in my body and that I’m super sweet. I LOVE belly rubs and think that they’re the best thing in the world! One of the cutest things my foster mom has noticed is that I sometimes have this quizzical expression where I raise my eyebrows, as if to ask, “What’s going on?” or “What are you doing?”
I am a smart pup, even if I do say so myself, and a very good boy. I know my name and a few other words. I’ve been working on wait. It’s a tough one, but I’m doing it. I love food, especially fruit, and this motivates me in my training (LOL).
I like going outside in my foster’s fenced in yard and running around sniffing and exploring. I’m not really a barker, but if one of my fur siblings starts barking at a bird or squirrel, I will join in the fun.
I do have some anxiety issues. I’m getting help with a professional trainer and will need my new family to continue working with me. I know I can learn to manage my phobias, like I said, I’m a smarty pants. It would probably be best if my forever home came with a calm dog to be a mentor.
I am on medication for allergies as well as epileptic cluster seizures, but I don’t let this get me down. With the help of the medication, I am able to live a full life and am still my sweet, lovable self! I can’t wait to share my big heart with my forever family! I know I will make you so very happy.
Dinho’s adoption cost is $550. Learn about our adoption process here. Please help us defray the intake care cost by donating to the GRRMF Golden Gift Registry. Thank you.
