Nova knows how to win people’s hearts!
Nova enjoys visiting the Ronald McDonald House and The Village at Gainesville (memory care facilities), but she and Dottie concentrate more on visiting HCA North Florida Hospital and Haven Hospice (this required additional testing and certifications), where she brings smiles and comfort to the patients, families and staff.
Dottie admits that one of their most moving experiences was when she and Nova paid several visits to a patient with advanced ALS at Haven Hospice. Although she could no longer speak or walk, she was able to move her arms, and she and Dottie both had tears in their eyes as the woman experienced the joy of petting and being comforted by Nova.
Highly intelligent and always active, Nova has had extensive training in agility. She loves swimming in the pool at home, retrieving balls, learning new tricks and going on long walks. She also loves being the (well-deserved) center of attention and being petted by everyone she meets or already knows.
Now, as Nova and Dottie look forward to continuing their therapy visits, Dottie is grateful to Hearts of Gold for making it possible with a special “thank you” to their wonderful area coordinator, Russ Crowder.
