Hank puts his whole heart into loving!
Hank and Sally are presently visiting a nursing home, a rehab hospital and a college library. They both enjoy the library most. Sally taught college-level biology for a long time and Hank especially loves the students.
Not only did Hank love the students at the college library, the students loved him, even those who had been fearful of dogs. For Sally, that was wonderful to see. She thinks having small dogs in the therapy dog program is an excellent idea, giving people reluctant to interact with larger dogs a more comfortable option.
Relaxation time for Hank and Sally means going for long walks in the park, taking agility lessons two or three times a week and participating in a dog Frisbee league. One of Hank’s silly – but savvy – antics occurs when he’s being petted. He often turns sideways and lifts his back leg to sneak in a belly rub!
Sally fondly recalls when a student at the college library was very hesitant to pet Hank who was seated quietly in his stroller. She said that she had always been allergic to dogs and because a big dog once chased her, she had never touched a dog. They kept chatting and she slowly put her hands closer and closer to Hank. He waited patiently and she finally touched him. She said, “Oh, he’s so soft!” and continued petting him for several minutes.
Now team Hank and Sally excitedly look forward to more visits to the college library and the rehab hospital.
