Haley Aprel #3618

Haley Aprel #3618

Age: 10 years

Gender: Female

Breed: Golden Retriever

Weight: 78 lbs.

Status: Not Ready For Adoption

Miss Haley arrived, blonde and beautiful but her fur coat needed some significant attention.  It was discovered that her happy tail had a golf ball size mass that needed to be removed immediately.

She is such a trooper when it comes to her doggie doctor visits, taking her medication and allowing her foster parents to tend to her incision from her surgery. She made wearing a cone “cool”.  She is a fashionista with style for sure!

When the pathology results came back to us, we learned that the mass on her tail was melanoma – however the cells are not dividing fast – which means there may be options to help her have more years of happiness.  GRRMF is currently researching next steps for Haley regarding a potential melanoma vaccine program and we should know more about the feasibility of the vaccine for this lovely girl in the next two weeks.

We cannot think of anything better than to get our Haley a treatment that will help her tail go “happy”.  She is in need of some financial support and we hope that you will join with GRRMF to get her the important treatment to heal.

Please help Haley with the treatment she needs to heal her tail so that she can wag it happily ever after.

Donations to date: $1125

Goal to cover medical expenses: $1800

Haley found herself in GRRMF because when she was left alone outside, she would chase lizards and dig into the ground to find them, which jeopardized her safety. This beautiful blonde girl is as sweet as can be and has adjusted very well to her foster home.  She and Murphy her foster golden brother get along just great.  Although he gets very jealous when she goes for car rides without him (little does he know those rides are for her vet visits – otherwise he would not be quite so envious!)Haley certainly loves to be outdoors, but she is outside on the screened in lanai, where she is comfy and can view all of nature. She and her foster golden brother Murphy love to hang together on the patio and smell the summer scents. Haley is now safe outside because she and her brother are not left unattended. Her foster mom reports that when they are outside together, she still does loves to chase lizards!  She will put her nose in the jasmine and when she finds them, she proudly prances around with them, then drops them and tries to play with them. But under her foster family’s watchful eye she is not digging at all.

Haley loves to look cute while someone is eating, hoping to get a little nugget.  Although she does not get anything, it does not stop her from trying.  In the evening, it’s treat time at her foster home, so both dogs and cats wait patiently as her foster mom and dad get the goodies ready.

She is very good with other dogs and adores everyone she meets.  With her recent surgery she is sporting a “lion’s” tail!  When she goes for walks she is very popular and many people comment on how cute her tail is as she greets them with happiness. Just one more example of Haley’s style and grace!

Haley has wrapped her foster family right around her little paw, and her loving personality has shone through despite her tail surgery and numerous vet visits.
