Clementine is as clever as she is charming!
Among the facilities this extremely active team visits are hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and nursing colleges.
Currently visiting 5 hospitals and interacting with over 500 people a week, they enjoy these visits most since they offer Clementine and Tami a chance to positively impact the lives of so many on the same day. The patients are the most rewarding because they have heard of therapy dogs but have never met any. Tami loves the stories they tell of their own animals and how special pets are to their families.
Their favorite visit so far was with a woman who had been in and out of hospital due to heart problems. She had to find a temporary home for her own small dog because of her many surgeries and being in different rehabilitation facilities. Clementine made such a difference to her, and she said that she could feel her blood pressure lowering as she petted Clementine and talked about her dog.
At home, Clementine, who is extremely smart, loves performing, particularly if there’s a treat involved. She’s also an avid lizard hunter. Although she’s never caught one, she loves the hunt and will wait and watch in the hopes of seeing one that she can chase.
Especially endearing to Tami is Clementine’s tendency to give her the “side-eye” when she’s trying to be mischievous or silly. She also knows the difference between Tami petting her and her husband petting her without even looking at their hands. She’ll even let out a very low growl if she wants one or the other to pet her!
Their 12-year-old grandson loves to pick her up and hold her like a baby, upright with her head over his shoulder. She will happily allow him to hold her this way as he walks around with her in his arms.
As for this awesome team’s future: to continue making a difference. According to Tami, “It truly is amazing what one small dog can do to someone’s attitude and perspective on life.”
