A true legacy of GRRMF, Chance is remembered by everyone who ever met him. His sheer size one would think would scare so many but his gentle demeanor and presence warmed everyone’s heart.
When Chance was an ambassador for GRRMF at different public events through the years in the St. Petersburg area, you would hear people say “That is the largest Golden Retriever I have ever seen”! All would gravitate to this sweetest of all to give a hug or get a lean from the king of goldens. This handsome boy appeared many times in our GRRMF calendar, and did therapy work as part of GRRMF and the Golden Gang at The Palms in Largo before we started the Hearts of Gold program. One of the first dogs on the west coast team, Chance continued his community service in 2019 as a Hearts of Gold ambassador with his Mom Cathy and Dad Marc. One of the most memorable “visual” images of Chance was with his therapy buddy at a visit to a local university. His buddy was a miniature pony. The two of them standing side by side were of equal height and brought big smiles and laughter to all.
Sadly in the height of the pandemic in 2020, we lost Chance to cancer. His GRRMF legacy of service and tenderness will live forever.
