Bear and Handler Darla

Bear and Handler Darla

Regional Area: North West

Gender: Male

Breed: Golden Retriever

Bear may be small in size but he’s LARGE in LOVE!
Bear and his mom Darla pay regular visits to the Flagler County Public Library for “Paws to Read,” Little Angels Daycare, Two by Two Pre-school, Harbor Chase, Grand Oaks, Tuscan Gardens and ECHO.

The team’s favorite and most memorable moment to date was when a girl at ECHO said she loved Bear because he was so soft. And that her own nickname was Bear!

To say that bright-eyed little Bear loves children is an understatement. In fact, he always pulls Darla towards the sounds of their voices playing when they’re out walking with one of his two doggy “brothers.”

At home, Bear loves playing with toys, especially stuffed animals, and stealing them from the other two dogs when they’re not paying attention. Ever the excitable “clown,” he also loves crazily shaking the stuffed animals, not to mention getting the zoomies when he’s especially excited. Ever so endearing, he uses a stuffed animal as a pillow, and sometimes falls asleep with his little stuffed taco toy in his mouth!

Highly intelligent, eager to learn and easy to teach, Bear knows such tricks as “sit,” “lie down,” “stay” and “give paw.” Darla is currently training him for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and plans to teach him even more tricks in the future.
