Archie puts the “a” into awesome!

Archie and mom Terry Ann have attended both a children’s reading program and a welcome evening for incoming preK at elementary schools. They have also visited an assisted living facility and a memory care facility, enjoying them equally since the response to Archie is so heartwarming. At the assisted living facility, the residents love to pet him (he loves the attention) while sharing stories of their own dogs. At the elementary schools, he loves the children’s excitement. At the memory care facility, he knows how to be especially gentle and caring, bringing smiles to many of the residents there.

The children, who were delighted to meet Archie, loved petting him, while he was ecstatic, with his tail wagging furiously. Then he settled down and watched each child read. Terry Ann views strong reading skills as so vital to each child’s development that she found it a truly wonderful experience.

At home, Archie can run after balls or swim in the pool for hours. His favorite indoor game is “Come find me,” where he has to sit while his mom hides somewhere else in the house, and then calls for him. He, of course, gets a treat when he locates her.

When playing catch outside, he must have two balls. He retrieves them, carefully places them next to each other, looks at them and then at his mom to signal he’s ready for more throws. He’s also the best snuggler, sometimes trying to fit onto her lap. At night, he’s on the prowl for shoes. His parents often wake up to one or two in their bed.

The team shared a particularly tender moment at a memory care facility when they visited a very ill man. Archie immediately went to his bedside and laid his head next to the man’s pillow. The man closed his eyes and smiled a little.

Now this dynamic duo hopes to fit in even more visits each month!
