This beautiful girl can see clearly now and open her eyes pain free. Lady suffered from entropion, a condition where her eyelids rolled inward. Dogs with entropion can have corneal ulcers or vision loss due to eyelashes and fur rubbing against the cornea. After consulting with an ophthalmologist, surgery was recommended to correct the eyelid’s position. Our medical team agreed that this surgery was necessary for Lady so she could live a happy life. The procedure was successful and after being medically cleared, Lady was adopted into a loving home.golden retriever with black rimmed eyes, following her eye surgery.

Fear and anxiety plagued poor Scout. Scared of going outside, getting in a car and a variety of other environmental stimuli, adoption was out of the question. Scout needed professional force free behavioral help so he boarded with a trainer who could work slowly with him. Progress came in small steps, but they did come. Scout gradually began to trust and became more confident. Today Scout is the happiest of boys romping around and playing with his new adoptive family.

Every dog arriving at GRRMF is given a full exam by one of our partner veterinarians, and it’s a good thing too for Sunny. Upon intake, suspicious lumps were found sending up red flags.  After discussions with our partner vets, it was decided to visit a veterinary surgeon due to the location of one of the masses. Surgery was scheduled and performed to remove 2 mast cell tumors and a benign lump. The margins were determined to be good, and he came through his procedure beautifully. Sunny is now living a bright life with his very lucky family.

How GRRMF’s Medical Team Makes These Stories Possible

These are just a few of the medical cases GRRMF provided to our rescues in 2026. Our medical team volunteers work 24/7 ensuring all our dogs are well cared for and healthy before being adopted into loving homes.
