What a week! Meet our newest arrivals – the Sweet Six!
Wolfie, Thunder (who is the golden Dad of them all), Pumpkin, Brownie, Bear and Goldie.
When the call came in that there were two goldens needing help, our team went into action. When we heard there were four more about to be abandoned or euthanized after the passing of their human dad, and they were not gold but had hearts of gold, we COULD NOT leave them behind. So last Friday 3 of our A-team transporters picked up 6 dogs in need and brought them to our intake vet to start the difficult process of examinations, baths and medical assessments to determine their care plan. Their needs are great as vet care was not a part of their prior lives. Step 1 was to get them into foster care to start with family love and care to heal their souls and physical ailments of infections, open sores and skin and ear issues. Once the skin issues are resolved the 5 boys will be neutered, hip and knee concerns will be addressed and a multitude of lumps will be biopsied.
To date, $4200 has been required for initial vet expenses and much needed medicated shampoo. While in foster care each dog will require 2-3 medicated baths each week to ensure their multitude of skin infections heal.
Thanks to our 11 wonderful transport volunteers who dropped everything to drive them to their foster homes, all 6 are now SAFE. All have follow up vet appointments to progress through their medical care plan under our fabulous vets watchful eyes.
