Update on March 10, 2024

This March our madness is all about Riley! As the excitement of college basketball reaches a frenzy, we hope you’ll pass along some of that energy to help Riley win each round of her bracket. Instead of cutting down the net though, Riley’s triumph will be a pain-free and healthy life.

Arriving overweight, suffering from severe allergies, barely surviving a snake bite, and needing dual knee surgeries, Riley immediately captured her foster family’s heart with her loving personality and zest for life.

Although she is unable to climb stairs or run like healthy dogs due to the torn muscles in her knees, she always has a wagging tail and a kind smile on her precious face.

The luck of the Irish hasn’t been with Riley though. Every time her surgery was scheduled a new complication arose. Finally clear and down to a healthy weight, Riley’s surgeries can be scheduled. A specialist will perform a TPLO, tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, on each knee. She still has a long road ahead of her, but with your generous donations to help cover the life changing cost of her medical care, she will one day run and romp and rejoice!

Keep checking back in to follow Riley’s recovery.

July 2023

Hi, I’m Riley! I was brought in to GRRMF after my owners’ situation changed and they could no longer care for me.

I am adjusting well to my foster home and my foster says that I am a great pet to have around! I have no problem telling my humans when I’m ready to play or am done playing, and my foster says that this attitude can be quite funny to watch. When I go outside to play, I always make sure I bring a toy to join in the fun with me! I am always good for my bath time too and I love being brushed. I also love my humans and I enjoy being near them, but I can also be independent and enjoy my own company sometimes. Children and other adults don’t bother me, and I am very friendly.

I am a very good girl and I know sit, stay, and shake. I know to go outside to potty and I’ve never had to be crated. I am currently on medication for skin and joint issues, but I don’t let these things keep me down! Being playful has still not been a problem for me and I am still a sweet and loving dog to have around. My foster says that I am amazing and I can’t wait for my forever family to see that too! Will that be yours?
