Our Joey Mikey needs additional support from our rescue with training and to help him build confidence and prevent anxiety when meeting new people. More information about his progress will be posted in October.
May 19, 2020 intro to Joey
Meet Joey Mikey! This sweet boy came to GRRMF from Louisiana and is an adorable golden blend. Weighing only 50 pounds, Joey’s smaller than a typical golden, but his love and affection is GINORMOUS. Joey greets his foster mom at the door with a kiss when she comes home from work, and loves to cuddle up next to her on the couch.
Joey is a “Velcro” golden, wanting to be with his human wherever they go. His foster mom says Joey follows her everywhere! He is especially fond of belly rubs, and has perfected the art of giving the puppy dog eyes. How could you resist this little cutie?
Joey is house broken, does not need to be crated and is working on basic commands. He lets you know how he’s feeling with some excited barks if he sees a squirrel or someone new. Although he’s a little shy at first with strangers, he’s very sweet and loving once he’s comfortable. Joey loves playing with his foster dog sister, but we haven’t observed him with cats or children, yet.
A ladies’ man, Joey is charming and protective toward his foster mom. His favorite spot is on the bed where he looks out the window during the day to make sure everything is safe. He’ll give a bark if he sees anything suspicious but settles down once the threat has passed. His foster mom feels safer with him on the look-out.
