There are many opportunities for the joy of volunteering and making a difference! We have listed below some of these key roles to continue to build and improve the services we offer for the care of our dogs and people in Mid-Florida. Please send your interest to volunteer@grrmf.org

Note: All the hours are approximate and dependent upon the number of dogs in our care, scheduled activities and how many volunteers can share the activity to reduce the time needed.

Leadership Volunteer Roles

• Virtual Roles
  • Media Team | Social Media Coordinator
    • Oversee and participate in content development and delivery for social media platforms.
    • 10 hours per week
  • Volunteer Wellness | Recruiter
    • Match applicants to open positions, pre-screen and interface with hiring coordinator.
    • 10 hours per week
  • Community Outreach | Fundraising and Grants Coordinator
    • Identify and implement fundraising opportunities.
    • Support grant team with grant writing choices and reviews.
    • Support inclusion of external media (TV, radio, newspaper/magazine, streaming and podcasts etc.) requests for GRRMF visibility.
    • 15 hours per month.
  • Local Roles (Florida Resident)
    • Community Outreach | Friendraising Events Area Leaders
      • Responsible for identification and participation in activities at local events.
      • Leaders needed in Central, North West, North Central and North East.
      • Must be Florida resident in the Mid-Florida area.
      • 5 hours per month, plus Saturday event schedule coverage from September through April.
    • Community Outreach | GRRMF Hearts of Gold Area Coordinator (Central / Orlando)
      • Schedule, attend, and report results of Hearts of Gold dog/handler visits for the Central team.
      • Must be Florida resident in the Mid-Florida area.
      • 10 to 15 hours per month.

 Behing the Scenes Administrative Support Volunteer Roles

• Virtual
  • Adoptions | Pre-Adoption Admin
    • Help coordinator with tracking new adopters and onboarding activities.
    • Google sheets experience needed.
    • 5 hours per week.
  • Community Outreach | Hearts of Gold Admin
    • Help coordinators with tracking new handlers and onboarding activities.
    • Google sheets experience needed.
    • 5 hours weekly.
  • Community Outreach | Friendraising Admin
    • Help coordinators with onboarding new volunteers, communicating event info to volunteers, and tracking attendance during September through April period.
    • Google sheets experience needed.
    • 2 hours per week.
  • Volunteer Wellness | Recruiting Admin
    • Help recruiter with tracking new volunteers and onboarding activities.
    • Google sheets experience needed.
    • 5 hours per week.

 Public Interfacing Volunteer Roles

• Virtual
  • Intake | Intake Liaison
    • Support other liaisons and coordinator with communicating with surrendering owners, shelters and other rescues.
    • Previous experience in animal rescue intake helpful. Knowledge of Google Mail and Google Sheets.
    • 5 to 10 hours weekly.
  • Behavior | Behavior Liaison
    • Support fellow liaison with identifying and/or scheduling trainers to support in-care and/or adopted dogs.
    • 5 hours weekly.
  • Local (Florida Resident)
    • Applications | In-Home Visits
      • In-home visits to support our applications team finding the best forever homes for our dogs. Critical areas – Orlando and surrounding areas, Tampa and surrounding areas.
      • Help also needed – Melbourne and surrounding areas, Gainesville and surrounding areas.
      • 3 hours monthly.
    • Community Outreach | Friendraising Ambassadors
      • Supports 1 – 2 GRRMF public dog friendly events per month (typically on Saturday’s) depending on scheduled events in the area.
      • Seasonally scheduled between October and April.
      • 4 to 8 hours monthly.
    • Transport | Transports
      • Intake dogs from surrendering owners and transport in-care dogs to foster homes and vet appointments.
      • Critical areas – Tampa and surrounding areas and Orlando and surrounding areas.
      • Help also needed – Gainesville and surrounding areas.
      • 3 to 5 hours monthly.

Advanced Technology Support Volunteer Roles

• Virtual
  • Media | Social Media Support
    • YouTube expert and Meta Suite knowledgeable resources for building and scheduling content.
    • 5 hours weekly.
  • Media | Web Photo Librarian
    • Upload and organize photos in our WordPress Media Library.
    • 3 hours weekly.
  • MEDIA | YouTube Support
    • Upload and organize videos in our YouTube channel repository.
    • 1-2 hours weekly.
  • Business Operations | Technical Support Help Desk
    • Help volunteers troubleshoot technical issues with google (sheets, docs, calendar, email). Educate volunteers on tips and tricks to help with their comfort using the tools.
    • As needed.
  • Business Operations | Technical Support Metrics
    • Support coordinators with GRRMF Village metric reporting creating databases, data comparisons, consolidated reporting etc. for visibility to our volunteers in our new Volunteer Library – after month end data is available.
    • 3 to 5 hours monthly.
