Sugar and Dalia have visited senior living facilities and attended library visits. Given small, sweet Sugar’s curly, deep red coat and soft, warm eyes, this calm and cuddly cutie was, quite simply, born for therapy work.
Confident that people exist solely to pet him, which makes him excel at comforting them in return, Sugar swiftly turns all strangers into fans. Dalia believes that being part of a therapy team is one of the most rewarding activities because animals can bring comfort in ways words can’t.
While his therapy-team retriever brothers may tower over him, Sugar, powered by pure personality, runs the show, confidently, proudly and usually from someone’s lap! One of his favorite memories, though, is of visiting kids at the library. Since he grew up around children, he considers them his “people,” and happily soaks up every giggle, hug and belly rub.
Off duty, Sugar is a professional napper and a dedicated Netflix enthusiast. His preferred location: a couch, a lap or any spot where he can maximize snuggle time. But he’s also a fetch fanatic. According to Dalia, a ball motivates him more than any gourmet dog treat on earth. In fact, he’s learned most of his tricks by simply chasing his beloved ball like it’s his full-time job.
As for the future: Sugar can’t wait to fully embark on his therapy journey and make a difference — one smile and one snuggle at a time.
