Updated 8/6/22: My foster mom says that I am doing very well and making great progress! She has noticed that I get along well with other dogs and that I enjoy wresting and tussling with them! I continue to need patience and help with learning new commands but I am very smart and catch on quickly. I also feel a lot healthier and seem to have put on a little weight. Like many other dogs, I love attention and I love being with my humans!

Hi there, my name is River! I was brought here to GRRMF in hopes for a new lease on life.

I am very comfortable here in my foster home and I love being with my foster mom. I am not very fond of the cats that she has though, and I will chase them every chance I get. My foster mom thinks that because of this, I would probably be better in a home without cats. I am naturally curious about anything that moves, like ceiling fans and the TV, and I enjoy chasing moving things, like squirrels and possums. I am very affectionate and I love to be near my foster mom, sitting by her and walking with her when she’s moving around. I will also go to her when she’s sitting and put my head in her lap, gazing up at her with my puppy dog eyes! Belly rubs are also one of my favorite things. Even though I can be skittish with new noises and other things, I’m always willing to explore and not let my fear get the best of me!

Sometimes I can be a bit hyper, and this can interfere with my following commands, but I am working on this with my foster mom and I do know sit and come, and I respond well to no. I am also working on walking on a leash since I love to chase things. I really just want to play! My foster mom says I have to be isolated when she’s not around because of the cats, but when she’s in the shower or just outside I usually just stay in the bedroom and I’m well behaved! I really like the other dogs in my foster home and I’m learning how to be a well behaved boy by watching them… I’m so smart! Certain noises can sometimes make me growl and bark, but after some reassurance I’m okay. I am on some medications for skin issues but we’re getting it under control and it doesn’t keep me down!

I am a very loving and playful dog, and with some patience and love in return, I will make a lucky family very happy!
