Pumpkin went to the vet today and he has greatly improved. Although this poor boy suffers from allergies and will need medicated baths from now on, only his ear infection is keeping him from being ready for adoption. He has been matched and his forever family is anxiously waiting his medical clearance.
Pumpkin is one of the Sweet Six, a group of Golden Retrievers and retriever blends that were rescued together from one home after their owner passed away. All six of these lovable dogs were about to be abandoned or euthanized until our rescue team went into action and swooped in to save them.
Pumpkin had a rough first few days in his new foster home. He was suffering from an ear infection, an eye infection, and open sores on his body, so he wasn’t feeling well at all. He spent most of his first day sleeping, grateful to be in a safe and comfortable place. His foster mom nicknamed him “Pumpkin Patch” because some of his fur was missing. Thanks to the care of our amazing veterinary partners, Pumpkin’s condition has greatly improved! His skin is much better and his fur is almost all back.
He’s always extremely happy to go on his morning walk. He also enjoys playing outdoors. He likes to play ball and fetch a Frisbee too. He doesn’t always catch on the first try, but he does well at fetching and dropping the Frisbee to give it back to you. He has become more active as he settles in and gets used to his new environment.
Pumpkin is definitely a Velcro-dog. He loves to follow you everywhere and stay by your side! He’s learning to be more independent and explore the backyard on his own. When he’s not playing, he likes to curl up and sleep a lot. His foster mom is also working with him to teach him some commands. He has learned “sit” and “stay” so far.
Pumpkin is a golden blend. Despite everything he’s been through, he’s a sweet, lovable boy who will make a wonderful addition to your home as soon as he’s ready to be adopted.
