Gabbie was a former breeder dog and is looking for a new “leash” on life. With patience and understanding Gabbie can recover and lead a normal healthy life. GRRMF requires all forever homes of former breeder dogs to have a fenced in back yard (not an electric fence), at least one other calm dog in the house to act as a mentor and chill pal, and a quiet residence with an adult who is at home most of the time. Gabbie is just now learning what it is like to be a real dog. She is slowly coming out of her shell as she settles into her new foster home.
According to her foster mom, she is a sweet girl who just doesn’t seem to really know how to be an inside pet yet. “She’s not so keen on getting in and out of the car, but once in, she enjoys the ride. Even everyday sounds like opening blinds, and the vacuum are taking time to get used to,” says Gabbie’s foster mom.
Gabbie is house trained, and so far has not shown much interest in her crate, but is fine in a room behind a baby gate. Learning to have fun with her foster sister and discovering that toys can be fun, this sweet girl likes to carry around balls in her mouth and is working on the fetch command.
So, what else does Gabbie like? Belly rubs and naps and looking out from the safety of her window to watch neighborhood happenings. But ultimately her favorite thing to do is to climb up into your lap for a snuggle, pant in your face and give some face and ear licks. 
Gabbie will be a wonderful loving pet for some lucky person! In true golden fashion, she is a love bug at heart and her colors are shining through more and more each day. She will need a patient family, one who is home more than away, along with some training to help her adapt.
