Please help us help sweet Chewie – an innocent girl who needs your help to get back in good health.
Surgical cost for just her bladder stone removal was $970, while Chewie’s total expenses are expected to be over $1500!
Chewie was surrendered to GRRMF when her family could no longer care for her. What GRRMF did not know was that Chewie had bladder stones, a severe ear infection and was terribly thin! She landed in our arms for a reason, to help her get well. But we need your help!
GRRMF scheduled Chewie’s surgery almost immediately. Prior to surgery, the vet cleaned her ears as they were severely infected and in need of care. The vet also prescribed medication to ease the pain and discomfort that she was experiencing. This sweet girl was experiencing so much pain, but was brave and not complaining. What a sweet girl who when she is better will need a loving home where she will get lots of TLC and care.
Update as of 12/29/17:
Chewie’s surgery went well and all of the bladder stones were able to be removed. However, another issue was discovered by the vet. Poor Chewie has severe hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia can unfortunately limit a dog’s ability to be active, but Chewie is a fighter and wants to enjoy life to the fullest. Chewie will need continued exercise, Glucosamine, and has been started on Rimadyl since the surgery. Chewie will be on a strict routine of going out to relieve herself every 2 hours until her stitches are removed in 10 days. At the post-surgical visit when her stitches are removed, her urine will need to be checked as well. Chewie will need to be monitored closely so that we can make sure that she is healing properly.
