Update: October 16, 2022

This energetic two year old has been working hard on her manners and training; she is progressing and doing her best but you know what the song says, “girls just want to have fun!” Her foster dad is dedicated to working with her on her commands and distracting her from squirrel watching.

Barbie loves children and people in general, she is getting better at greeting them politely but sometimes she’s just so excited to see them it’s hard for her to wait patiently.  She’s a work in progress but her loving nature is well worth the time and energy.

Barbie has a fun and exuberant personality, so when it’s time for play or just hanging out, she prefers spending her time with larger dogs over the smaller dogs. With continued training and safe outlets for exercise and play, this sweet young girl will make a wonderful addition to an active family who is looking for a loving pup to join in all the fun.

Update: September 14, 2022

Great news! Barbie is clear of heart worm and is ready to find her forever home! This little cutie is full of lots of love, affection and youthful energy.  Her foster dad has been diligently working with Barbie to learn her obedience commands; so far she has mastered sit, down and stay.  She is also doing well on her leash walking and has a professional trainer helping her learn to walk like a lady.

Barbie is a lovable pup that puts her head in your lap for attention, enjoys car rides, walks and being with her people.  She adores her foster families great grandchildren, who are ages nine and five. Barbie was properly introduced to several dogs when she first came to GRRMF and a senior cat that was a magical dog whisperer, she did well with all of them.

Although she isn’t a fan of bath time, she tolerates the process and enjoys the rub down afterwards.  Her foster dad reports that she does cower some when she is reprimanded or doesn’t want to do something but he has noticed less frequency in this from when she first arrived.

Barbie is as sweet as her name and just wants to please her people and be loved. If you are looking to put a little fun in your life with a young, energetic pup, Barbie is the girl for you.  She will give her new family a lifetime of love and would love to live her dream life in her forever home with you.

If you can’t wait for the new Barbie movie, check our new BARBIE out!  She’s a two year old puppy, who is sweet, loving and aims to please.  Barbie is an exuberant young girl with lots of energy and excitement about the world around her.  She loves people and can’t wait to meet and greet everyone she comes across on her daily walks.  Barbie came to GRRMF from a shelter who knew when they met this sweet girl that GRRMF would find her a loving, forever home.  Diagnosed with heart worm, Barbie will need to go through a series of treatments that will require her to have low activity exercise for a four month period. That won’t be an easy task for a young girl who wants to do all “puppy things” like run, jump and play. Little does she know that her foster family has plans for her to learn some obedience commands and manners while she is being treated for heart worm. Barbie will also get to enjoy some of her favorite things – belly rubs, car rides, walks and playing with her assortment of toys.

While Barbie was staying at a foster family’s home for a week, she was introduced separately to their three dogs and Driftwood, a 20 year old cat (a veteran of foster and adopted dogs). Barbie did very well with the dogs and respected Driftwood’s stationery and calm approach towards her. However, bunnies, squirrels and lizards are another story -it’s the thrill of the chase when she spots one of them!

Barbie is housebroken and crate trained, in fact, she loves to sleep in her crate.  A Velcro dog that loves her people, she is an enthusiastic pup who is a willing learner. Since she is a lively and energetic pup, she may be better with older children than small infants.  With additional training, patience and love, Barbie will make some family a wonderful companion for life.

Your support and generous donations towards Barbie’s heart worm treatment will give her the new and happy life she deserves.  This sweet and loving girl is dreaming of a forever family and she can’t wait to be well to start living her best life!
