Ann Sofia #4099

Ann Sofia #4099

Age: 6 years

Gender: Female

Breed: Golden Retriever

Weight: 55 lbs.

Status: Not Ready For Adoption

Update: November 23, 2022

Ann is slowly but surely gaining confidence!  Per foster mom, she is beginning to change.  Ann has become more comfortable with almost everything- noises, movements, new people, our cats, and walking through the door to go outside.  Remarkably, she has never had an accident in the house.  Ann started looking directly at her fosters instead of looking away in fear.  She also learned how to play.  At first it was really short bursts cut short by her being startled by her newly wagging tail.  And oh, the tail wags!  She wags her tail when you approach her, call her name or squeak her toys.  If Ann feels comfortable with you, she might even give you kisses.

Although Ann’s progress has been slow and some big obstacles remain, she is a different dog from the day she arrived.  Each day, we see more evidence of joy in her eyes and less evidence of the life she once had. Her fosters hope that with this new found confidence Ann will be accepting to training by a certified trainer.

Hi, I’m Ann! I arrived here at GRRMF hoping for a new ‘leash’ on life!

I am slowly getting acquainted with things here in my foster home and I am learning to be more comfortable around my foster mom and her cats. I’m very patient with them and just quietly observe them (the cats, not my foster mom haha!). She hasn’t noticed me around dogs but hopefully I can get more acquainted with them soon. I am also learning to be okay with children and am still a little skittish, but I let them pet me and give me treats if they approach me slowly. I do love to receive affection from someone I’m comfortable with, and I will even tap your hand with my nose to ask for more pets! I’ve recently discovered playing with toys, and it’s so much fun! I love to take naps outside in the sun and work on my tan.

I do my best to be a good girl and I am working on the come command. My foster mom has noticed that I have a thing with doorways, and when we are coming in from outside I have to be carried in. Loud noises and sudden movements also startle me sometimes but once I am comforted and reassured, I am fine. I do have some medical issues as well, but I don’t let these keep me down! Overall, I am a very loving and sweet girl who just needs some patience and TLC to help me come out of my shell! Once you get to know me and I can trust you, I’ll love you forever!
