“I’ve been a Sanctuary foster since 2017,” Stacy says, “doing so because I have a special place in my heart for those dogs needing extra help.
“When I was asked to foster then five-year-old Leo, he had recently been diagnosed with diabetes and possibly Cushing’s disease. (Thankfully, he doesn’t have Cushing’s). I wanted to provide him with love and comfort and work on getting him healthier and stronger.
“Although he’s now 10, Leo remains extremely sweet and he still loves giving me BIG smiles when I come home. He also loves to lean into my face and press his forehead against mine. He may have more hind end weakness, but he’s been a trooper at learning some home hind end strengthening exercises.
“The most rewarding part of being a GRRMF Sanctuary foster is being able to pour out my love to help a dog in desperate need of extra care. I enjoy going above and beyond for those in need. I’ve loved dogs all my life and I enjoy learning how to enrich and improve their lives.
“Being a Sanctuary foster may require extra commitment or sound challenging, yet in my experience, these dogs have shown me how unconditional love and living each day with gratefulness looks.”
