Greg Heeter

Volunteer:

My name is Greg Heeter. I’ve been a member of GRRMF’s transportation team since 2014, when I was first looking to adopt a golden for myself.

My Journey:

Every transport trip brings new moments to cherish; the most special of these are when I look into the eyes of a needy, confused dog and form a connection with them. They need some hugs and gentle words to know that they’re safe and that they can trust me. Then, I get to hear of the positive outcomes in the lives of dogs I’ve transported, and it gives me this feeling of, “I made a difference for that one.”

When our adopted golden, Finley, passed in 2021 from cancer, his absence left a huge hole in my heart and in my days. Helping transport pups to their new lives helped fill that missing experience. There are so many opportunities to contribute to the health and safety of dogs. No matter what you’re good at or want to do, there is always room for you to contribute and benefit from that contribution.

Make a phone call or email and get started today. The first step is the hardest. After that, things just fall in place.
