Ethel Amena’s Success Story

Ethel Amena’s Success Story

dog and boy

Her new mom’s happiest memory of adoption day was watching Bailey’s sweet personality emerge within moments of their meeting. They were awed by how playful and bright she was, and how eagerly she wanted to showcase the commands she knew — for treats.

Her favorite hobby to date, however, is stealing everything from socks and shoes to toys and mulch! Blessed with the most delightfully mischievous streak that only adds to her charm, Bailey LOVES parading her stolen treasures around like trophies, keeping everyone in the family on their toes.

While it’s absolutely hilarious when she gets the zoomies, they seem to come out of nowhere. She’ll start running in wild circles – as if powered by rocket fuel — around the house, especially when her mom takes their youngest son upstairs to bed. But moments later, Bailey is perfectly calm and ready for evening snuggles. In fact, one of her sweetest traits is how much she loves to snuggle. She’ll curl up beside her parents at the end of the day, completely content just being close to them.

Obsessed with her Chuckit (a flying squirrel Frisbee), she’s astonishingly agile and fast, catching it mid-air and proudly sprinting back to her parents, reluctant to release it. The result: they end up playing a combination of fetch and chase, often exchanging the Frisbee for a treat to prolong the action. She also loves a good game of tug-of-war, happily challenging anyone by bringing them a toy.

Ever the quirky cutie, Bailey’s reaction to sneezing is both funny and oddly protective. Whenever someone sneezes, she instantly sits up and stares with wide eyes as if to ask, “Are you okay?” “What was that?” Known for faithfully following her parents upstairs, she pushes past them, sits on the step above, forcing them to climb over her, then turns and runs to reach the top first! And because she LOVES car rides, she accompanies her mom when she takes their son to school every morning. She lies in the back with him, but whenever they stop at a red light or wait in the school car line, she stands up and rests her head on her mom’s shoulder.

Being the bright Bailey she is, not to mention highly food motivated, she recently completed a basic manners class and learned several new skills.
