Char Sophia’s Success Story

Char Sophia’s Success Story

Char, a former puppy mill mama, charmed her amazed and adoring adopters the moment she entered their lives!

Thanks to a wonderful foster mom, Char, now called Charlotte, not only learned “how to be a dog,” she learned how it felt to be loved and cared for. Was it any wonder, then, that she took to everyone so quickly, including her much smaller doggy sister, a maltipoo named Lacy?

According to her mom, Charlotte just brings so much joy to everyone, and it’s been awesome watching her loving and gentle personality emerge the more comfortable she’s become. In fact, Charlotte has been brave, sweet and trusting as she’s journeyed from fearful to fearless. She used to be afraid of unfamiliar noises, windy days, rain and certain rooms in the house, mostly because she wasn’t used to them. Now, so much of what made her “pancake” or run to her safe place no longer bother her. She’ll even go outside in the rain and enjoy the feel of the wind on her face!

Charlotte is happiest being close to her parents and lapping up their affection. She loves when they pet her or rub her belly, and she’ll nudge their hand if they stop before she’s ready. If she sees Lacy getting attention, Charlotte will jump up and hurry over so she can join in too. She also loves chewing on Kong toys and spending time in the yard, while playing with a ball or a Frisbee outside are works in progress, as is her confidence where car rides, walks and meeting new people are concerned.

On the sillier side, her parents quickly learned that Charlotte likes to tear the stuffing out of toys. She also liked sneaking Lacy’s smaller stuffed toys into her bed to chew on and take apart. Not to mention her penchant for chewing shoes, throw rugs and blankets when her family’s not around. And so, “Charlotte-proofing” has become part of their daily routine.
