Sally and Handler Molly

She and mom Molly have been happily visiting Windermere Prep for eight years, providing the children (K3, kindergarten, 1st and 4th grades) with positive experiences involving a dog. Typically, some children start each year feeling fearful, but when they warm up to Sally, their fears subside.

This dedicated duo also visited Give Kids the World for several years prior to Covid, meeting and greeting the children and brightening their day. Then, during Covid, they visited Advent Health Pediatrics and Emergency Room Staff, raising the spirits of the many people they met. The simple act of petting Sally reassured them that everything would be all right.

One of Molly’s bittersweet memories was when she and Sally visited Advent Health to spend time with the doctors and nurses. A doctor who came out of the Covid room area into the break area was close to tears as she admitted that 45% of those patients weren’t going to make it. Sensing her heartbreaking sadness, Molly and Sally comforted her for about 15 minutes.

On a happier note, when they attended a “thank you” reception at Give Kids the World, some larger than life characters from Disney were there. As soon as Molly put treats in their “paws,” Sally approached them most appreciatively and joined in the festivities. But what Sally loves most is joining her mom on their dock in the morning and “doing yoga” with her. The instructor’s voice is so soothing that she stretches out on Molly’s mat and naps.

As for this longtime team’s future plans, they will continue visiting the children at Windermere Prep and the Della Library and pay occasional visits to Universal employees.
