Ryland is a 5-year-old golden retriever blend with a heart full of love and a nose for adventure. This handsome boy is equal parts affectionate companion and independent spirit. He’s the best of both worlds—he loves following his people around the house, but he’s just as happy lounging in another room, perfectly content in his own company. He’s not clingy, but he’s loyal through and through, showing affection in quiet, tender ways—like gently resting his head on your chest after a long day.

When you come home, Ryland will make sure you know you were missed—greeting you with full-body wiggles, happy barks, and joyful jumps. He doesn’t need a crate; he’s trustworthy, well-mannered, and happiest when he’s part of your daily routine.

Despite the retriever in him, Ryland’s not really a fetch guy. Toss a ball, and he’ll look at you like, “Nice throw, but how about you go get it?” He’s more into interactive play—he wants you involved. Toys are fun, but humans are better.

Here are some of Ryland’s favorite things:

Ryland isn’t overly interested in other dogs and hasn’t met any cats. He’s alert to new people and sounds, always keeping an eye (and ear) on his surroundings, but once he warms up, he’s a total sweetheart. He’d do best in a structured, quiet home without other pets—somewhere he can relax, feel secure, and soak up love at his own pace. Fireworks and thunder might catch his attention, but they don’t shake his calm nature.

As the holidays draw near, most of us are thinking about family gatherings, cozy nights by the fire, and the joy of giving. For Ryland, the perfect gift would be a family to call his own. If you’re ready to give him the love he deserves, Ryland will reward you with endless loyalty, tail wags, and companionship.

Ryland’s adoption cost is $650 which helps defray the average $2000 expense per dog in our rescue. Click here to learn about our adoption process.
