Truly living up to her name, Princess is paws-itively blooming!

While she may still be on life’s loving journey, she’s made such beautiful progress in the past sixA golden retriever stands indoors on tile flooring, smiling up toward the camera. months thanks to the help of an amazing professional trainer. She no longer needs her crate and now prefers to spend time lounging with her family in the living room. She also loves cuddling more with her parents and loves playing and snuggling more with her doggy siblings.

Two golden retrievers lie close together on a bed, resting their heads on the blanket.Despite her continuing fear of going outside, Princess recently surprised everyone when she came out to the patio while the family was there! Even more endearing is how much she loves blankets and loves carrying them around the house with her. She’s also discovered the pantry and where the treats are kept. Can you say “yummy?”

Her parents bought a bench so that Princess could have access to their A golden retriever sleeps nestled in white bedding with its head resting on its paw.bed. Needless to say, she loves it! She likes getting in bed once they’re asleep. In fact, her mom sometimes wakes up to little licks, and to her, nothing could be sweeter. Not to mention how excited Princess gets when her father comes home. She starts barking at the door, her tail starts wagging and she “goes crazy.”

Progressing paw step by paw step, Princess’s golden glow shines brighter with each passing day!

Thanks to the passionate devotion of her foster family and the ongoing professional care she receives, Princess, who celebrated her second birthday in June, knows how it feels to be pampered and adored. She LOVES playing and snuggling with her doggy siblings, particularly her sister Rosie, and wants to be with her wherever she goes. In fact, she frequently places her head on Rosie’s back and snuggles beside her when it’s bedtime.

Not only does Princess get extremely excited whenever her fosters return after being out, she even barks and paws them when she wants to get on the bed to snuggle with them as well. And the family has Spa Sundays when Madi comes home.

Famously fond of having her belly rubbed and playing with toys, Princess, sadly, still remains fearful of so much. She’s afraid of being outside when it’s light, afraid of noises and strangers, afraid of the leash, and of car rides. She wakes up during the night to be let out normally every three hours. She paws and growls at her foster mom as if to say, “Hey Mom, it’s time! Let’s go!”

And yet, given her tender age, this lovable and loving princess has an entire lifetime to prove that practice makes, if not quite perfect, as close to it as paws-ible.  Watch the home video of Princess and see what a remarkable life she has with her GRRMF family!

It didn’t take long for GRRMF to realize that Princess had some special needs.  Fearful, timid, shy, withdrawn – with noise phobia and abnormal sleep cycles, our sweet girl, Princess, needed some professional help.  With patience and love from her caring foster family and the assistance of a fear free professional veterinarian/behaviorist and one of our partnering professional trainers, Princess has gradually gone from a petrified dog who isolated herself from life to a young dog finding love and confidence in her new surrounding with her permanent GRRMF foster family.  Princess now follows and interacts with her fur siblings, joins the family in their living area and enjoys the gentle kindness her family shows to her.

Princess still has a long way to go but her life is now filled with promise and love.  Tireless efforts have been and will continue to be devoted to giving Princess her best life as one of our sanctuary dogs who will live the rest of her days with her very special GRRMF foster family. Her dedicated and loving family will continue to make every day count for Princess so that she can enjoy a happy and healthy life with the special care and support that she needs.

What is more precious than saving a life of a dog that may otherwise not have had these options without GRRMF’s intervention.  These miracles wouldn’t be possible without the support of our donors who help fund the sanctuary program so that these dogs can have wonderful lives. Thank you for your generous support!
