When Monsey puts on his vest, he knows it’s time for the belly rubs to begin. After all, belly rubs are his paycheck — and looking cute and cuddly is a pretty easy job for this big golden boy! Monsey joined Hearts of Gold in November 2024, following in the pawprints of Stormy, his handler Kim’s original therapy partner, who sadly passed in 2021. While Stormy left big shoes to fill, Monsey has embraced his role with tail wags and a whole lot of heart.
Monsey is a playful pup and loves rolling on the floor with kids at camp or stretching out at the library while they read to him. All is well in Monsey-land as long as the belly rubs keep coming — even if his giant paw accidentally lands on the page.
Though energetic, Monsey has a gentle side and always seems to know when to turn it on — or off. One memorable visit ended with a little boy who was initially afraid of dogs wrapping Monsey in one of the biggest hugs ever. Monsey answers to just about anything, including his nicknames “Muenster” and “Sir Monse-a-lot.” He loves sharing his favorite stuffies, especially the ones that vibrate and make noise (though his family has learned to turn them off at night unless they want a surprise wake-up call).
