With a stunning face and athletic skills, this sixteen month old cutie with beautiful golden eyes is looking for his forever home. Canelo is a friendly and playful guy who loves attention and being with his people. Wile E. Coyote couldn’t catch the Road Runner and wouldn’t catch Canelo either; he energetically loves to run zoomies “Fast and Furry-ous!”
Canelo comes to GRRMF when his previous family could no longer care for him. He can’t wait to find his forever family but he has been diagnosed with heartworm and will first have to go through a series of shots or oral medications, bloodwork and follow ups with his veterinarian for the next four month. It will be difficult for this lively young pup to stay quiet and relatively inactive through his treatment process but “no worries,” he has lots to work on.
During his stay with GRRMF, Canelo will be working on his social manners with people and other animals. Having little or no training, this young lad will need to learn his basic commands and social graces. Such things as leash walking, proper ways to greet people and other dogs, taking things politely, as well as, other day to day living skills. He will make an active family a wonderful and loving pet; he just needs some time, patience and training that he hasn’t had the opportunity to learn.
When he isn’t working on his skills and training, this vivacious pup enjoys car rides, playing with his toys, chasing lizards and eating! Canelo wants to be with his person and likes to be able to see where they are in the house or yard. Since this is a new environment for him, it will take a little time for him to feel confident and independent. He hasn’t been introduced to children but at this time, given his high energy drive and need for more training, he would be best suited for a home with older children or adults.
This young pup is going to be a rock star, but he needs your help and support to get healthy and medically well. When he is ready for his new home, he will lavish love on his new family, welcome lots of fun, exercise and be a partner for life. Move over Road Runner – here he comes- Beep, Beep!
