Join GRRMF as our GRRMF Hearts of Gold volunteers and therapy dogs walk in this special Gainesville holiday parade! The procession moves along University Avenue from W. Sixth St. to 620 E. University Ave. Bring your family to downtown Gainesville on Saturday, Dec. 7 for A Very GNV Holiday Parade! Starting at noon, enjoy floats, dancers, live bands, and a special appearance by basketball legend and parade grand marshal — Shaquille O’Neal! Kick off the holiday season in style as Shaq leads the way.
Be sure to stick around after the parade for a variety of family-friendly activities the whole community can enjoy as the City of Gainesville offers this special holiday event for an opportunity for families, neighborhood groups and businesses from across the city to come together and celebrate the season.
These events are free and open to the public.
12 p.m. start – City of Gainesville Holiday Parade
1-3 p.m. – Bo Diddley Plaza Kids Holiday Dance Party
5-8 p.m. – Holiday Lights Celebration in the Thomas Center Gardens, with horse-drawn carriage rides provided by the Duckpond Neighborhood
After dark – Duckpond Neighborhood Association luminaries
