Your
Donations Help!
Where do your donations go? Well, in 2008, GRRMF took in:
- 25-30 heartworm-positive dogs requiring expensive treatment.
- Nearly 100 goldens needing spay/neuter surgery.
- Two dogs hit by cars requiring surgeries.
- Two who needed orthopedic surgeries for hips and knees.
- A dozen or more with severe skin problems, requiring long-term foster care, medications and special diets.
- The Davenport 20 – a failed breeding venture that sent us five 1-year-olds, seven 5-month-olds and a pregnant female who gave birth to seven puppies.
- Another failed breeding that resulted in GRRMF receiving five 5-month-old goldens.
- A few with seizure disorders.
- Several goldens with missing body parts, including an eye, a foot, a leg, partial tails and more.
- One with dwarfism.
- 56 senior goldens, including 12 who were 11 or older.
- Eight goldens with tumors that required surgical removal.
- Several with internal medicine issues, including intestinal strictures (requiring 3 surgeries), diabetes, Addison’s disease and megaesophagus.
- 17 obese dogs.
- 13 diagnosed with cancer who spent out the rest of their days in permanent foster care.
- Dozens with ear infections, eye infections and parasites such as hookworms.
- A few who were confiscated by animal control for abuse/neglect, one who was pushed out of a speeding vehicle, two whose owner went to jail leaving them tied up outside, dozens from humane societies and on death row at animal control facilities, several found along busy highways …

… And the list goes on. As you can see, the majority of goldens who come to GRRMF are not “well cared for.” They come to us with medical conditions from neglect or poor care, with behavioral and emotional issues from the same, as strays, suffering from illness and injury -- and all in need of love and attention, which we are happy to provide.
Your donations help tremendously, and our commitment remains strong - we will help as many goldens as we possibly can go on to live happy and healthy lives. Thank you to all who have donated! GRRMF is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization. 100% of your donation goes toward the care of goldens like these mentioned above.
Thank you.
